Some quotes from famous people about nudity and getting naked…
Over the years I have seen a lot of quotes about nudity and getting naked from celebrities and famous people, so I thought it might be a fun idea to start collecting some of these together. This list represents the few I have managed to track down since re-starting this site and will grow as I find more. If you don’t know who these people are you can always Google them – I certainly had to look a few of them up before posting – but all are public figures in one way or another.
If you know of any quotes you think would make a good addition here then drop me a line at info@nudeisnotrude.com and I’ll add them.
Amanda Holden
‘My husband says I’m like the Sesame Street character Elmo; I go around naked all day and wear pyjamas to go to bed. I’m naked most of the time in my house. Naked barbecues, naked lawn mowing…’
Asia Argento
“People’s attitudes about sex aren’t healthy anywhere, except maybe in those tribes where they go around naked.”
Barbara Pollard
“There’s nothing more empowering than shedding your clothes and embracing your body with pride, exactly as it is.”
Daryl Hannah
“My favorite thing is to be naked, which is why I always live in remote areas. My ideal is to wake in the morning and run around the meadows naked. I think it’s a good idea to live in harmony with nature.”
Elizabeth Rosner
“But for me, being naked out of doors and in the water is one of the best ways I have ever found to restore my sense of blissful innocence. It takes me back to that place of my almost forgotten childhood, where I got to run around undressed without anyone telling me I had to cover up or be embarrassed.”
Elle MacPherson
“I come from a country where you don’t wear clothes most of the year. Nudity is the most natural state. I was born nude and I hope to be buried nude.”
Emily Ratajkowski
“I’ve always felt very comfortable in my own skin. I grew up going to beaches in Spain where I would see topless women. My dad is a visual artist so I have seen so many nude paintings and that was something I always loved and was drawn to. I always found the female form from the photographer or the artists’ side to be a really interesting and beautiful subject. So I never really thought of judging my body.”
Felicity Jones
“Nudism fosters a kind of camaraderie you can’t find elsewhere. When everyone’s bare, you’re all equals, and that’s where deep friendships begin.”
Gigi Hadid
“If you look at sculptures from hundreds of years ago, everyone’s naked. It’s not a bad thing.
Halle Berry
“If the world wouldn’t persecute me, I’d take nude pictures every day of the week.”

Iggy Pop
“I don’t think about modesty. I think about being alive, and sometimes that means no clothes.”
Jessa Crispin
“If we can’t handle the sight of a naked body, the problem lies with our culture, not the body. Legal reform starts with changing how we see.”
Kate Winslet
“I look like the people that walk down the street. I don’t have perfect boobs, I don’t have zero cellulite – of course I don’t – and I’m curvy. If that is something that makes women feel empowered in any way, that’s great. On a deeper, subconscious level, it’s one of the reasons why I’ve allowed my stupid self to be so naked on screen. It’s partly because I do believe that it’s right for the character and it’s right for the story but it’s also knowing that not many people do that, actually – and not just that, but I’m a normal person.”
Marisa Papen
“The main reason for my nudity is about freedom. It’s about desexualising the body and showing we are all the same underneath. When we are naked together, we are free from judgement and closer to each other as humans.”
Miley Cyrus
“I see a lot of people with their clothes on, and they’re kind of assholes. When you have your tits out you can’t really be an asshole.”
“I don’t really stress too much about being out there. There’s nothing left to catch me doing. You want to hack my e-mail so you can find my nude pictures? I’ll just f****ing put them up.”
Nick Alimonos
“Nobody can give a rational explanation for anti-nudity laws.”
Padma Lakshmi
“I like me better naked. I don’t mean that in a vain way … When you put clothes on, you immediately put a character on. Clothes are adjectives, they are indicators. When you don’t have any clothes on, it’s just you, raw, and you can’t hide.”
PJ Harvey
“I just love having no clothes on outside, and the only time to do that is when the sun’s shining. It’s a wonderful sensation to not have any clothes on.”
Stella Maxwell
“I’m totally comfortable with nudity. It’s not about being sexy. It’s about being real and owning every part of yourself without shame.”
Dr Victoria Bateman
“I have no problem with nudity. Neither do all other creatures on Earth (apart from humans that is!). Interestingly, many indigenous societies (in warm places at least) also seem fine with it (relatively speaking).”
“Why should I as a woman only be able to use my body for sex and babies, why shouldn’t I also be able to use my body to deliver an important political message?”
“Behind every naked woman is a real thinking being!”
“The common thing about all of those women is that they are silent. They are not allowed a voice. What is shocking perhaps to some people is a woman who is naked with a voice.”
“A woman’s worth should not hang on the degree to which she covers up… The way you judge women—not me—is the problem.”
“Being naked, I’ve revealed much more about what’s going on in other people’s heads than I have of my own body.”
